Jennifer A. Ewers, J.D. – Family Law Attorney, Mediator

LEGAL CAREER:

Jennifer has over 20 years experience as a sole practitioner representing clients in family law matters including divorce, child custody litigation, child custody and child support modification, mediation, protection order proceedings, adoptions, and paternity actions.  She is also often appointed as a Guardian Ad Litem in child protection and guardianship proceedings. Jennifer is licensed to practice law in Idaho and Washington and currently mediates and represents clients in both states.

Upon becoming a lawyer, Jennifer worked in King County and Pierce County, Washington, as an associate attorney for the firm Curran, Kleweno & Johnson (now the Curran Law Firm) in Kent, Washington. She maintained a full caseload in the areas of family law, personal injuries, employment litigation, real property litigation, misdemeanor defense and small business contract litigation.  She also represented school districts in cases involving student rights and responsibilities, the provision of special education services, public disclosure, public bid requirements, policy development and employee discipline and discharge.

As a law student, Jennifer was an intern for the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in Seattle, Washington, in both the Criminal and Civil Divisions.  As an intern, Jennifer represented the State of Washington in the prosecution of misdemeanor offenders and in misdemeanor bail/release hearings. Jennifer also researched and drafted appellate briefs for appeals of felony and misdemeanor convictions and sentences, and researched and drafted legal memoranda and advisory opinions for civil cases involving issues including constitutional law, employment discrimination, contract law, and municipal law.
